Harvest & Nourish

Simple, scratch-made recipes and artisan breads.

About Kerry

Kerry Edmonds is the author, recipe developer and founder of the popular food blog Harvest & Nourish.

expertise

Kerry is a self-taught baker, home cook and gardener turned food writer and recipe developer. She is known for her artisan bread recipes, and has established herself as a trusted resource for creative, inventive, yet approachable recipes, all deeply rooted in simplicity and wholesome ingredients. Her signature no-knead artisan bread method is foolproof and based on proven strategies she has developed baking hundreds of loaves.

Featured on Food52, Feedfeed, Tastemade, Cooking Light, Sur la Table and Life & Thyme, among others, her recipes have inspired home cooks and bakers around the world to make their own bread and to put a healthier, more creative spin on beloved classics.

Experience

Kerry credits her love of cooking to her mother, an incredible self-taught cook who made everything from scratch. Baking, batch-cooking and preserving seasonal harvests to sustain her farm family through Canadian winters. Over the years, Kerry began experimenting with different types of cuisines and cooking methods, and has extended this approach to more daily staples like dressings, sauces, stocks, simple weeknight dinners and more.

With decades of experience and a background in communications, public policy and PR, in 2020 she started Harvest & Nourish—a celebration of the artisan breads and simple, wholesome recipes made in her prairie kitchen.

Kerry lives in Manitoba, Canada with her extended family, a thriving garden and her (very food driven) cat, Charlotte.

Five things about Kerry

🌿 She’s a gardener and has grown just about every kind of zone 3-4 vegetable you can think of. When not cooking, baking and running Harvest & Nourish, you can find her tending to her garden, complete with an array of vegetables, fragrant herbs, vibrant flowers and prairie wildlife.

🌿 She loves to cook using seasonal ingredients. From growing her own produce to farmers’ market trips, supporting local producers and cooking at home, she has carried these approaches with her throughout her life.

🌿 She loves to read. Her library contains hundreds of books. Even though she regularly donates to charity, her collection continues to grow.

🌿 Her favourite food is bread. A thick slice of toasted bread slathered with lots of salted butter.

🌿 Her favourite cocktail: A very dry martini with olives.

While we eagerly await tomato season, this quick h While we eagerly await tomato season, this quick homemade tomato sauce is fresh, so flavourful and comes together in about 30 minutes. Made with canned tomatoes, onion, garlic and lots of fresh basil, it’s my go-to for pizza, quick spaghetti nights, baked pasta dishes or as a base for hearty ragus. You can even use this recipe to make a quick, creamy vodka sauce.

Easy no-knead small batch ciabatta rolls. Beginner Easy no-knead small batch ciabatta rolls. Beginner friendly, they’re light and fluffy with a thin, crispy crust and an open, airy crumb. The method is simple with everything mixed by hand and calls for an overnight cold proof for added depth of flavour. If pressed for time, I’ve included notes to have them baked up in as little as 4 hours.
