Healthier, no-bake chocolate peanut butter Krispie bars that are made with just 7 pantry staple ingredients, pack a little extra protein and require almost no effort to make!
This time of year, I’m always inspired to create simpler recipes. I love it when the temperatures start to warm up and immediately start thinking about summer desserts. And what’s not to love about a no-bake chocolate peanut butter bar?
Here’s What You’ll Need to Make Them
- All-natural peanut butter
- Maple syrup
- Protein powder
- Coconut oil (sub neutral vegetable oil)
- Kosher or fine sea salt
- Rice Krispies
- Dark chocolate chips
- Flaky salt (optional)
These chocolate covered Krispie treats take maybe 20 minutes to put together and an hour or so to chill. I like to make them with dark chocolate, maple syrup, peanut butter and coconut oil. Honey, milk chocolate and almond butter are all delicious options, too. Oh, and the protein powder is not a must, you can easily leave it out and these bars will still be delicious!
How to Make These Chocolate Peanut Butter Krispie Bars in 5 Easy Steps
- Prepare loaf pan.
- Mix together then heat peanut butter base.
- Stir in Rice Krispies, press into loaf pan and let cool.
- Top with melted chocolate, sprinkle with flaky salt and let sit in the fridge to harden.
- Remove from refrigerator, slice and enjoy!

Chocolate Peanut Butter Krispie Bars
Equipment
- Sauce pan
- Small whisk
Ingredients
- ½ cup all-natural peanut butter
- ½ cup maple syrup
- 1 heaping tablespoon protein powder
- 2 tablespoons coconut oil divided (sub neutral vegetable oil)
- Pinch kosher or fine sea salt
- 2 ½ cups Rice Krispies
- 1 cup dark chocolate chips
- Maldon salt to finish
Instructions
- Prepare parchment-lined 8½ x 4½-inch (1.5 litre) loaf pan and set aside.
- In a medium saucepan, combine peanut butter, maple syrup, protein powder, 1 tablespoon coconut oil and a pinch of sea salt and whisk together over low heat until melted and smooth.
- Stir in Rice Krispies then transfer mixture to loaf pan, pressing it down and out into the corners to form a base. Let sit in the freezer for at least 20 minutes to cool and firm up.
- While the base is setting, heat chocolate chips and 1 tablespoon coconut oil in the microwave at 30-second intervals until smooth, whisking in between, about 90 seconds total.
- Remove loaf pan from freezer and spread chocolate evenly across the top. Sprinkle with flaky salt then let set in the fridge for 1 hour until hardened.
- Slice into bars and store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
